Hephaestus VSD Screw separator for cleaning shot
Screw separator for cleaning shot is designed to extract from bulk raw materials consisting of spherical particles, inclusions with deviations from sphericity.
The separator can clean the following types of raw materials, such as shot (steel, cast iron, enhanced) according to GOST 11964-81, sizes from 1.25 mm to 3.6 mm.

The screw separator consists of a frame (1) on which the cleaning unit and receiving hopper (4) are located.
The cleaning unit consists of a multi-lane spiral chute (2) and a distributor (3), which serves to form streams of cleaned product and waste.
The screw separator operates as follows:
The pre-sorted raw material (grit) is fed into the receiving hopper, which is positioned above the multi-lane spiral chute. The product is evenly distributed across the spiral lanes and, under the force of gravity, is entrained into a rotary screw motion.
The parameters of the spiral are designed so that spherical particles (grit) are ejected from the lanes due to centrifugal and inertial forces and fall into the distributor, from where they are gravity-discharged from the unit.
Particles with significant deviations from spherical shape (agglomerated grit, elongated particles, etc.) cannot exit the spiral surface due to differences in movement characteristics and friction coefficients. These particles descend downwards and are removed through the waste discharge port.
High degree of purification. The main function is to achieve maximum removal of impurities with minimal loss of quality raw materials.
Low operating costs. The absence of any moving parts and electric drives in the installations ensures minimal operating and maintenance costs.
